[Sin] Patch and More

Okay, I can officially say that Arena Mode is going to be in the v1.2 patch. The code is 99% there, just a couple of last minute glitches to iron out (certain character combinations in names preventing demos from recording, scores not properly saving, etc.) We also have to decide on our initial map list.

I can also say that YAUSB is not a codename for new functionality (sorry, Standoff, that was the post I was referring to...didn't mean to confuse you). YAUSB is an acronym for something that has been excessively painful to go through, and is actually related to the reason why the game didn't unlock exactly at noon...

Once we get the v1.2 patch(es) out, we get to flip back in time for a bit and decide when to release the next update to SiN 1 so we can finish things like resolutions and finishing trying to figure out why a little under 1% of our end users can play SiN single-player, but not multipayer...especially since it's the same executable and support DLL's for both.

Meanwhile, we're still working hard on Episode 2. Everyone on the team has been reading our reviews, forum posts, E-mails, smoke signals, etc., so we know what people liked and didn't like. That feedback, along with playtests, will guide the development of Episode 2.

So it's going to be a busy summer...

So once the patch comes out, we'll finally know what YAUSB is heh?

No kiddin. I guess it's gotta be some internal consistency thing...or something. I dunno :)

Good to hear its not too far from finished :) I can see SiN ep1 has more replay value than HL2 ep1 anyway, just cause replaying gunfights is more fun than replaying easy puzzles. :)

It's really joshing my balls as to what it is hehe. Dunno why o-o. But I don't understand how if the patch prepares us for YAUSB, how is it mailable? Since Mike said he fed-exed off a few posts ago.

Anyways, I do have to agree SiN Eps has way more replay value than hl2 ep1. SiN Eps in itself is very fun to replay with secrets, crazy firefights and all. But the fact that Arena Mode and Multiplayer are coming is even greater! hl2 ep1 only came with hl2dm and hl2dms (which was pretty much rushed and in a terrible beta state). Those two mp games leave much to be desired...

Run, children! Standoff is on the audit! Fear him!

I just got past one of my least favorite areas in sep1 (hehe) ....the rest of the game is fairly managable iirc!

Then I'll have to start over with the new patch, for no real reason. Life's like that I guess.

(or...I could try to get a real job. But that's just not that likely. :) )

I'm still wondering why Source isn't using OpenAL. Seems like very good tech to me.
