RTResolution v0.3 Released

Update 5/20/2020 8:42pm: v0.3.4 was released to patrons early to help ensure it works fine.
Update 5/18/2020 5:24pm: Added v0.3.3 to help with out-of-memory crashes on multimonitor configurations.
Update 5/18/2020 1:02pm: Added v0.3.2 to help with multimonitor configurations.
Update 5/17/2020 2:21pm: Added v0.3.1 as well for those who are experiencing game balance issues.

This version of RTResolution is designed to work with the new Terraria v1.4 "Journey's End" patch and does the following things.

1) It increases the maximum size of a display before a forced zoom to 8192x8192.
2) It increases the maximum size of render targets to help with multimonitor scenarios.

Terraria "Journey's End" running at 4K with a zoom level of 100%.

Download v0.3.3 here.

Download v0.3.2 here.

Source is on my Patreon and will be released for everyone at the end of May.

Note regarding biomes: I'm still tracing through all the biome logic in "Journey's End" and it's going to take a little time for me to figure out how it works.  If you use this mod to enable 1:1 zoom, you might get some biome wonkiness until I figure out all the internal logic and how to patch it.  I'm hoping to have something by end-of-month.

Thank you so much for your work, I hope you have an excellent rest of your weekend!

Thank you for this. This makes the game look amazing in 3440.

Found a problem though, the game seems to think I'm in a different biome to the one i'm actually in (music & background) but it also seems to be effecting buying biome specific items from NPCS.

Have I do something wrong installing or is this just a side effect of the size of the resolution?

Thanks so much. Seconding the biome issues though, desert is almost 400 tiles away but I'm getting sandstorms in my town now.

There's some bug with the hack currently.
The biomes are all messed up! Most biomes are showing as graveyard or a random mix of dessert with snow particles and hallow is getting mushroom treatment. Complete with backgrounds, music, atmospheric. Mobs spawn normally, but it's extremely weird.

Thank you for the mod and the quick update. I'm using the mod to run terraria on 3440x1440 (which has a horrendous 178% enforced zoom) and the biomes don't appear to be working correctly. As has been commented by others, I'm seeing phantom graveyard biomes and mushroom biomes all over the place. I tested the same spot with the mod and without it at the world spawn point and the mod seems to be the cause. Thanks again for the amazing mod!

this changes the game for 3440x1440. Thank you for getting this out so soon.

I cannot seem to get any resolution higher than 3840x1024.

Hello, I followed the readme in the zip perfectly (after extracting) and when I launch from the new Terraria.exe that the mod created (or from steam) I just can't zoom out further or change my resolution to beyond normal 1080p, really sorry but I've tried doing everything several times and I don't know why it isn't working, help would really be appreciated

Something wrong with biomes after installation
I'm trying to catch a Specular fish in caverns under a forest biome, but I catching only Flounder from desert biome
And a desert biome are 1000+ blocks away from me.

upd:
I have a same problem with a Mushroom biome)

Hope You see my feedback, thank you so much and sry for my English
Greetings from Russia :)

Oh, sry, i didn't see a 0.31, thank you)

Unknown said...

FOR A 0.31 you must have an ORIGINAL Terraria.exe in game folder (Not Terraria.Origina.exe), and do again from readme.

Great mod.

I cannot get my monitor's native resolution of 5120x1440 to show up in game.

Would you please consider adding support for higher resolutions?

Thank you.

Can this work on linux? I tried running RTResolutionJE.exe through wine, but it crashes, and I have no Terraria.exe in my saves folder to replace terraria.original.exe with.

I can't seem to get this to work on my 24:10 monitor. When I try to enable a resolution of 3840x1600, the game crashes instantly when the world loads, even though I can load into the game and adjust settings in the options menu. The crashes only happen when I have 3840x1600 enabled, all other resolutions work fine and I can load into the world. I hope this helps. I would be very grateful if you could look into this. Thanks!

Crashes when i load a world using v0.3.3 (5120 x 1440)

Love this mod a lot, but as I'm sure you've seen I and many other people are having problems with biomes. :(

Marco said...

Thanks for the mod but the biomes are a definite issue!

Confirmed that 0.33 and 0.32 crash on 5120x1440 resolution when the scaling is below about 125%. Works fine on anything above that.

However, 0.33 seems to introduce a new graphical issue(only on 5120x1440). Here's a screenshot: https://imgur.com/EfH694N

Additionally in both versions the biome issue is present.

I think the phantom biomes are from the 8192x8192 zoom limit change, i get the biomes backgrounds, spawns and effects from if my screen was 8192x8192 on my 2560x1080 screen.

Was about to record a video explaining the biome issue, but it seems it was documented here already. Want to take the time to say I really appreciate the short turnaround time on the patch for RTResolution and the biome issue is a Small Price to pay to actually use my monitor, so I greatly appreciate this

With 0.3.3 I still get crashes when loading into the game world with my native resolution of 3840x1600. Again, I can log into the game with any other resolution and actually get into the game, but with my native resolution I cannot.

Here are some crash logs from my Event Viewer that I hope you find useful:

Very fast update thankyou very much. Ive also noticed the biome issues such as sandstorms not in the desert, snow storms not in the snow, and its basically impossible to fish anywhere and pickup the right kind of fish.

Ultrawide 3440x1440 with 0.3.1 0.3.2 and 0.3.3
Not sure?

Fenrir said...

I must also say that I appreciate the work you do a lot. They really left us ultrawide users in the mud here, but as the others have stated, I get the biome issues on 3440x1440 as well. Like my town graveyard which is on the faaaar end of the town has it's biome stretch throughout it.
No pressure ofc, take your time, would just appreciate it a lot if it got fixed.

For those crashing just as the game loads (or liquids are settling at ~99%), try changing the lighting to retro.

With logging on, this is the error I get:
Exception: System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array.
at Terraria.Graphics.Light.TileLightScanner.<>c__DisplayClass3_0.b__0(Int32 start, Int32 end, Object context)

khronos said...

On Terrraria 1.4.0.3 with your mod version 3.3 any resolution over full hd resets the lightning engine to retro and you can't change it to anything else

any update on the biome tracking?

Is there any update on functionality of 0.3.4?
Does 0.3.4 cover biome tracking?
